Familiarising ourselves with the recent 2024 amendment effective from 22 February 2024, aiming to integrate climate change considerations into organizational management systems.
How does this amendment affect both existing and future certifications to ISO 9001:2015.
The ISO 9001:2015 amendment consists of two additions to the standard in clause 4:
Clause 4.1 – Understanding the organization and its context
Organizations are now required to assess the relevance of climate change within their operations.
A note has been added:
The organization shall determine whether climate change is a relevant issue.
Clause 4.2 – Understanding the Needs and Expectations of Interested Parties
A note has been added:
Relevant interested parties can have requirements related to climate change.
The explicit inclusion of climate change considerations in the ISO 9001:2015 standards encourage organizations to:
- Assess the impact of climate changeon their operations and strategic objectives.
- Engage with interested parties to understand and address any climate change-related requirements.
